Linux and pornography

Taken from: http://pcnews.ru/news/linux-microsoft-open-170187.html (link in Russian)

Fast translation (from Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs):
"The fact of installing Linux OS is not, unfortunately, considered a crime under the Russian law. It just absolute evidence that a computer user is feared that someone else may find what is he really doing on the computer and hence he/she is trying to hide something. Such a user is considered to be a hacker, and should be registered, listed, checked upon periodically and also should be called for explanation talks. Having a Linux on computer is the same as having a pornography: while not being strictly forbidden to have and store on users' computer, its usage patterns such as production, distribution and child porn activities is forbidden by law and are definitely illegal".

I read what is said in the Russion link. This is really crazy. Something like that can happen only in countries as Russia or China where people don't enjoy basic freedoms. It is really disgusting!

I just thinks its a more of literacy issue than any other.

I believe that people in power have to become more educated so such pornography or tubes comparisons will drive to nil.

By saying this, you just demonstrate your lack of culture and knowledge....

China is one of the most Linux-involved countries in the World...

Just use Google, it will prevent you from saying stupidities....

If you can read russian, you would understand that this is an April 1st joke.

Granted it is in bad taste and it circulates for a second time, but still it's not true.

Shame that the russian edition of PCWeek publishes such false info.

Just another narrow minded person...
Looks like you've never been there...
Maybe never been anywhere else either...than your own country.

Nevermind.

To all anonymous people out there:

* Please stop spamming. Either talk to the point or don't talk at all.
* If you do choose to talk, don't spill dirt on other people.

Unless these rules are understood, I'll close this for comments :-) and the only way to comment would be to contact me.

Now, all:
1. It is probably a joke, so take it as one.
2. China is one of the world's most developing communities with ~20% of world's population.

At the end of the world, people would speak English and Chinese, so get used to it.

I refered to political situation and not to the facts about how popular is linux in China. I see no conncection between using linux and political freedom. So I still stand by what I have said - something like that may happen in countries that have no respect for political freedoms.
Glad to read that it is a joke. However, I use to read russian newspapers from time to time and I must admit that if one knows what is going on in that country one would take it seriously.
